Accomodations
When booking your accommodation, it's very important to choose the right location. If the price seems too good to be true, it's probably because it's in an unsafe area. We recommend the following neighborhoods for their charm, accessibility, and safety:
French Quarter/Marigny: The French Quarter is by far the most touristy neighborhood, but for good reason. It was actually built by the Spanish in the late 18th century and has an alluring old world charm. Watch out for tourist traps, and see our guidebook for its gems (of which there are many). Make sure to book south of Rampart St and off of Bourbon (if you want to sleep). The Marigny is just east of the Quarter, across Esplanade Avenue, and is known for its quirkiness and the iconic Frenchmen Street. This neighborhood is perfect for first time visitors or people who want to be in the heart of the craziness.
Central Business District (CBD)/Warehouse District: The CBD feels like a metropolitan downtown, with tall buildings and plenty of excellent bars, restaurants, and rooftops. Between Uptown and the French Quarter, with easy access to the streetcar line and walking distance to the quarter, it's a great jump-off point for people who are not planning to rent a car. This neighborhood is perfect for guests who want an urban feel and modern amenities, with easy access to all the attractions.
Uptown: This quaint neighborhood is a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of the CBD and the French Quarter, and features the iconic, oak-tree-lined St Charles Avenue as well as the Magazine Street commercial district. It has easy access to the main sights via the streetcar line. Whether or not you stay here, Uptown is a must-see! This neighborhood is perfect for guests who prefer a quieter, more residential feel.

The Quisby (Uptown)
The Quisby cannot collaborate on a room block until after Mardi Gras, so check back in late March or so for room block information. Even without a room block, The Quisby tends to be pretty affordable and has more of a hostel vibe (with options for both couples and groups).
